KSAT3U

Development of 3U size satellite. Including optical imaging payload, all subsystems and a de-orbit system

KAIROSPACE was selected to provide satellites to be on board of KSLV-2 third launch. KSAT3U is an EO satellite, equipped with optical imager utilizing space qualified optical system developed for KPLO payload, PolCam.

On May 2023, the satellite was launched and deployed successfully on to 550km SSO orbit. The launch vehicle was able to provide video footage of the moment of deployment. We soon received data from the satellite and confirmed all systems were functioning as intended. On August 2023, we received the first image from the payload, confirming functioning of all components of the satellite in space.

KSAT3U

The satellite is equipped with passive de-orbit system which was also developed inhouse. It uses hydrogen to inflate a balloon to increase drag area. It will automatically initiate when the satellite is decommissioned and is expected to decrease the deorbit time of the satellite to 5 years.

All subsystems including On-board Computer, UHF and VHF transceiver, EPS (Electrical Power System), Battery module, CubeSat structure and solar panels were developed in-house for the project.

We can provide the satellite platform or any component of the satellite as COTS products. It will have high reliability and short lead time. Please refer to our product pages for more information about available products.
